Covid Update June 2021

The Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic (April 2020 – 2021) on the Sarah Kinsley Fund – It is GOOD NEWS

Like most other charities, we have been unable to fund raise due to “events” not being allowed. However, we have been very pleased and thankful that our loyal supporters have continued to send us donations throughout the pandemic.

The Trustees and Committee wish to thank you all so very much – your kindness, as individuals or groups, has really helped the charity and the children we support at this challenging time.

We are delighted to inform you that the SKF has been even more active during this year with the distribution of our funds! The Trustees and Committee see this as a real positive – we want to spend the money we have raised!

During this 12-month period to April 2021, we have spent £10,109.00, for a variety of reasons, on a total of 23 children and young people; some beneficiaries had received funding from the SKF previously but for many this was the first time.

As you would expect, I.T. needs to support education both at home and online have been top of the equipment list requirements, with 12 tablets or laptops purchased for children and young people.

We have also been able to help with some large-scale individual projects for children with particular needs that ‘lockdown’ exacerbated; these include, a sensory room built in the garden for one child, and another example a garden fence to ensure a safe environment for a young person shielding at home. Both these projects have had an enormous impact on both the child and the rest of the family’s wellbeing.

The Trustees and Committee have conducted their meetings throughout this period via Zoom and email. If anything, we have become even more efficient with requests being ‘turned around’ (often including delivery of the item) on average within a few days!

Some of our improved ways of working we will continue post-pandemic.

We wanted to share this ‘good news’ story with you and to say ‘thank you all’ for your ongoing support and also spreading the news about the Sarah Kinsley Fund.

We look forward to meeting up with you in person at a future fund raiser event, when such things are safely allowed to take place.
